useless top 2022 rankings
i know it is now march 2024 but i completely forgot that i hadn't finished my top 2022 so here it is.
top 5 dramas: (watched in 2022)
1. silent
2. waru
3. talio: fukushu daiko no futari
4. twenty five twenty one
5. first love hatsukoi
2022 was a great year for dramas to me tbh i watched lots and lots of amazing dramas. among them all silent undoubtedly swept all the awards. can you believe it was the scriptwriter’s debut drama!!! also the fact that the drama was hugely influenced by honey & clover and the director himself too is a big fan of spitz T___T
there are lots of funny things about 2521 - 1) i’ve anticipated it since it was first announced because i love the song a lot, 2) i ended up not watching it when it aired because all the attention it was getting killed my enthusiasm, 3) i finally watched and finished it within 3.5 days when i had covid lol… i honestly loved the ending and how realistic it was that they did not end up together. for real i lost my mind during the scene where yijin congratulated heedo for her marriage, and also when they had the argument that led to their breakup when heedo said “but you said you liked my recklessness” - that’s really one big moment in relationships when something you loved about someone becomes something that you can’t stand…….
um first love hatsukoi would’ve been my #1 drama (or at least #2) because it had sooooo many amazing scenes (harumichi’s love letter backstory scene you will always be famous!!!!) all the excellency of the drama was ruined by one of the worst endings i’ve ever seen…

i’ve never watched as many movies in a year as i did in 2022 it’s actually insane. but also what’s more insane about it i liked only 10% of what i watched

colorful trauma was such an amazing mini and hope to be like you is the most beautiful song ever by woodz i can’t even explain how much it affected me. i literally listened to it on loop everyday for some time and got emo all by myself over a nonexistent ex.
i didn’t listen to tracetrace until i heard it on ren’s drama, and honestly the intro music made me smile every single time. also love how perfectly it suits his voice u__u right shook me at first listen lol i was actually listening to the mini without really paying much attention, but then when right came up the lyrics shocked me that i had to listen to the song again. who hurt him?

unfortunately i did not watch enough kpop in 2022 so i could hardly remember watching any mvs besides newjeans and woodz. frankly i didn’t like attention’s storyline that much but i was so mesmerized by the vivid colours and all the scenes of the girls together!!

my favourite thing about woodz’s lyricism is that every now and then he uses my favourite trick which is switch up the final chorus to turn it into an antithesis of the previous choruses. he’s done in accident (“yeah i know it’s accident, not your fault” // “yeah it’s not accident, it’s your fault”) and he did it again in i hate you.
but to be totally honest my favourite lyrics that i heard in 2022 are from a song released in 2021 which is utada hikaru’s kimi ni muchuu. the lyrics are insane!!! (“i’m crazy for you / the type that wrecks someone’s life” // “even that person who looks perfect to you / gets tired and goes home too / talent has its side effects / success comes with a shadow”)

3. conversations with friends by sally rooney
kitchen was a reread so it doesn’t really count. the thing about conversations with friends is that i did not agree with 90% of what’s happening in the novel but for some reason there’s something about the way she writes that made it so good. also i did not agree 100% with the ending but it took me by surprise and i’m obsessed with it.

i still can’t believe chihayafuru wraps up slightly over a year after i started reading. i knowww a lot of people are mad over the ending but um suetsugu sensei u r god.
