reading/rereading detective conan as an adult gave me a whole new perspective on akai and Opened My Eyes. now that i have a very healthy and very normal obsession towards him i’ve also been scrutinizing all of his interactions with other characters, which gives us this akai ship ranking that no one asked for.

i searched high and low for the original text that was featured as a poem in chiha 247 (which turned out to be the preface for a collection of poems) and spent over an hour on that last night so since i succeeded i might as well keep my findings here.

again this is a content catered to me

original text:

やまとうたは、人のこころをたねとして、よろづのことのはとぞなれりける、世中にある人、ことわざしげきものなれば、心におもふことを見るものきくものにつけていひいだせるなり、花になくうぐひす、水にすむかはづのこゑをきけば、いきとしいけるものいづれかうたをよまざりける、ちからをもいれずしてあめつちをうごかし、めに見えぬおに神をもあはれとおもはせ、をとこをむなのなかをもやはらげ、たけきもののふの心をもなぐさむるは、うたなり。(source)

translation:

The song of Yamato (和歌(やまとうた)) germinates in the heart of men, and flourishes in the leaf of myriads of discourses. It is thus the way in which, men living in the world, because of many of their experiences, would like to express what they think in their heart, what they see and what they hear. Listen to the voices of the warblers who warble in the flowers, and of the frogs which live in the waters: Of all living things called life, who do not chant his song? That which, without exerting any force, shakes the heaven and the earth, emotionally moves the invisible demons, fosters the relationship between men and women, and appeases the heart of fierce warriors, is but a song. i don't really do fic commentaries because 1) i can't be bothered, 2) i don't think people can be bothered to read them anyway, 3) my writing process and thoughts are really.... not that deep. however despite it being an extremely niche fic that's specifically targeted to one (1) audience, i think maybe this fic needs a commentary after all because 1) i've left out too many details, 2) i have some things to say about it.

neither a writing plan post nor a wip graveyard i just want an excuse to talk about all of my active (and some status unknown) wips and not do the writing itself!! yes i'm the world's slowest writer yes i'm the most terrible procrastinator and what about it. also maybe by talking about them in public someone would pressure me to write them!!

i truly love what summer symbolizes in japanese media (fleeting season, fleeting youth, good things coming to an end, unforgettable memories) and i love how these songs capture such emotions.
