Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
i didn't have a specific goal, but i did write more than i thought i would! i really pushed myself to write in 2019 and signed up for more fic events and i usually did. also nct ficdom opened a whole new gate for me.....
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?

i guess i took some risks: 1) writing new and unfamiliar pairings 2) i was always a het writer but in 2019 i decided to tread on uncharted waters and started writing slash 3) yangyang pov was so hard TT

BEST AND WORST:
My best story of the year:
i just wanna be with you was really such a delight to write and a year later i'm still very proud of it! writing in jiho's voice and making everything extremely overdramatic, all the 97-line ensemble cast especially kim twins! i guess i found my niche in writing crack (and making fun of jjh)
My most popular story of this year:
i'm still surprised by how well that ultra-kind of boy did kudos-wise considering the fic is a scam and there's hardly any seungjin scenes together.... jghsakdjfg thank you for your trust everyone
Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
i think generally my fics did well and i mostly feel happy enough if my friends like them! but if i have to choose i wish i just wanna be with you can get more attention pls i'm hilarious
Most fun story to write:
i just wanna be with you and should've known better! like i said i found my niche in writing crack and making fun of jjh
Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:
maybe teeth bc before this fic i thought i would never write yangyang pov unless if i was held at gunpoint... well probably the person holding the gun was me bc i picked the prompt asdfshdgf but this fic made me study yangyang properly as a person and the depths of his thoughts - he's more than just a skrrt skrrt boy ok!!
Hardest story to write:
teeth was so hard TT just ask sapphy she knows my entire writing process and how i went from a normal gdoc white background-black font look to dark blue bg to black bg!! (as i told her with a dark bg i won't be able to see my bullshit that well) also happily ever after was a result of so many do-overs and i did so much research to get the formatting right, and it was also tricky bc script format means i can't use basic details to portray emotions/feelings TT
Biggest disappointment:
i will not name it here but there's one fic i wrote on the side as practice + guilty pleasure that i could've written better!!
Biggest surprise:
i guess all my ncts were a surprise to me lmao but the biggest of all would be let's go see the stars - i wrote this within two weeks which is huge achievement if you know my records... also did i ever mention that i mainly wrote this fic so that i could write about how beautiful renjun is....
Most unintentionally telling story:
i just wanna be with you is 30% me wanting a hsm au 20% me wanting to write kim twins 15% kim twins as sharpay and ryan evans 5% nerd eunu 30% me projecting my h*te akfhldkhsga + the things we do slowly was a spontaneous decision i thought of it on the day before sapphy's birthday and wrote the whole thing in 6 hours...

If Kim Jiho had to pinpoint one thing she hates the most between overcooked ramyun that has turned soggy, Mingyu's voice when he tries to hit the high note in the shower every morning, and cockroaches, she would waste no second in choosing her answer: Jung Jaehyun.

“So I’ve got this one friend,” Mark begins in his best attempt at nonchalance. “And he's got this upperclassman—totally nice, totally hot—and they’re bros. They hang out often on campus, like study together, grab lunch, talk—you know, bros . But then one day, this upperclassman asked m— him, I mean my friend, out.” He pauses. “Not that kind of asking someone out! More like, invitation to hang out, but outside of campus.”

If Hyunjin's life was a superhero movie, this probably would make a good ending with his suit back and the evil villains defeated. If his life was a romantic movie, this, too, would make a good ending with the love interest smiling warmly at him while holding his hands. But it's neither. It's just the life of a regular high school student with a not-so-regular side job as a friendly neighbourhood superhero, but Hyunjin thinks it has just begun.

Jaebum never could’ve imagined a life without Jinyoung. Looking back now, maybe he just never did.
“How do you like the view from the top of the world?”

She smells like the stale airtight cabin and jet fuel and hasn’t looked at herself in the mirror since two hours ago in the small lavatory, but it’s her, not anyone else. Taking off her sunglasses, she looks up at him and can’t help the smile that pushes up her cheeks despite her fatigue and drowsiness. He smells like home.

The next weeks pass by at the speed of Jaemin emptying his coffee cup every morning and asking for another. Yangyang gets increasingly anxious each day—by both the approaching debut and Jaemin’s caffeine consumption. He wishes there’s a pause button so he can put everything to a stop for a while and go for a toilet break.
Unfortunately, there’s none, so he excuses himself from the dance practice for an actual toilet break.

Jiho looks him dead in the eye. “Go suck a Chungyang pepper, Jaehyun.”

“Like, when one day you realize that you have a crush on younger sibling. No, wait, that sounds wrong. What I want to say is—”
“Wait,” Mark intercepts, raising one hand. “Do you like me?”
His shoulders that were tense like he was holding up something drop as Jaehyun exhales. “Honestly, I don’t know. But I… think about you a lot, so I guess I do,” he says. “Do you?”
Mark blinks. “Do I like me?” he ponders the questions. “Uh, I don’t know. I never thought about it.”

Jinyoung lies back and closes his eyes.

…pleaded guilty and was sentenced to—
The manager turns the radio off.

Wonwoo reaches for a handful and pops them into his mouth. He finished the snacks Junhui gave him two days ago. This one he bought this morning when he was looking for a canned coffee. “I don’t.”

Renjun looks up to a taller boy standing by his desk with a stack of papers in his hands. The boy has a sharp chin and sharper gaze. Renjun raises his brows questioningly.
“You need to submit your take home quiz now,” the boy tells him.

Renjun’s breath is warm against his cold skin. Sliding his hand up to the nape of Renjun’s neck, Jaemin closes the gap so there’s not even an inch of space between them. His mouth opens up as Renjun deepens the kiss, and Jaemin can’t help but wonder what this would look like on a news portal—two former bandmates’ unlikely reunion in some back alley. The media is just as ruthless and he has no PR team to back him up now, yet Jaemin can’t bring himself to pull away.
IN CONCLUSION: me *hides my fic event signups and shoves my wips aside*: hahaha
